FAQ About the
JR Golf Program

2009
Carlisle Country Club's
Junior Golf Program

Welcome to the 2009 junior golf season. In 2008 we had almost eighty children registered in our program. It is very pleasing to see this program continue to grow and see the improvement in the kids from year to year. I truly believe 2009 will be our best year so far. We have made some changes to the program this year and I urge you to read this introduction in its entirety. On the left hand side of this page you will find dates of junior clinics in 2009, pricing for junior golf equipment, a sign up sheet that must be completed for all attendees as well as information about Family Golf Days this summer. Please note that we must have a registration form for every junior filled out and turned in before they start in the program.

The junior golf program in 2009 will be conducted mainly on Fridays from 8:45 to 10:15. There are a few weeks that due to events we will be conducting the clinics on Thursdays. Many people have asked me why we are no longer doing clinics on Tuesdays and the reason is this. We had 15-25 children here on Tuesdays and roughly 50 on Fridays. Given this and the fact that Tuesday mornings are very busy at the club and Fridays mornings are quite slow the practice facilities and course are much easier to use on Fridays.

As in 2008, our mission is to continue to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for the children at Carlisle Country Club to learn the basics of all aspects of the game. We plan to teach the fundamentals of the golf swing and short game, as well as rules, etiquette and care of the course. At the same time, we will make it fun for your children! Our lesson plans will still include a rule of the week as well as more on course time in the second half of the summer with volunteer help. We will again be offering junior golf sets from US Kids at wholesale pricing to children in our junior program so they can learn the game with properly fitted equipment. I feel very strongly about this and must remind you that learning with cutoffs or equipment that is too long or heavy will develop poor swing habits that will last a lifetime. Although we carry a stock of this equipment I strongly urge you to bring your children by to get fit for proper sizing of equipment well in advance of the first clinic. I suggest this so if your desired size or style is not in stock we can order it and have it in less than a week.

As in years past, we will not tolerate any type of bad or inappropriate behavior to our staff or guest instructors from junior golf participants and the Carlisle C.C dress code will be enforced. Please remember that shirts must have a collar. There is nothing worse than having to tell a parent that a child cannot participate because he is wearing a collarless shirt, but it is a rule of the club we have to enforce. I thank you in advance for your participation in 2009 and look forward to
seeing you and especially our junior golfers soon.

Sincerely,

Chip Richter
